Fr. Elias Vella was one of ‘The Popes Exorcist’s’ and this life story ‘The Rite to Fight Satan’ written by his biographer Raymond Fenech Gonzi details 100s of exorcisms he undertook during his life as a catholic priest.

Fr. Elias collaborated closely with Fr. Gabriele Amorth, who acted as chief exorcist of the Vatican and performed more than 10000 exorcisms in his lifetime. Both are due to be immortalised in a new film due to be released in 2023 starring Russell Crowe, ‘The Popes Exorcist’

‘The Rite to Fight Satan’ is the true-life story of Fr. Elias Vella, a colleague and consultant who worked with Father Gabriele Amorth and who conducted 100s of exorcisms.



To coincide with the 2023 release of the film ‘The Popes Exorcist, Father Gabriele Amorth’ starring Russell Crowe, Quadrant Books publish the ‘The Rite to Fight Satan’ in hardback and paperback. ‘The Rite to Fight Satan’ is the true-life story of Father Elias Vella, a colleague and consultant who worked with Father Gabriele Amorth and who conducted 100s of exorcisms.


Father Gabriele Amorth, acted as chief exorcist of the Vatican and performed more than 100,000 exorcisms in his lifetime.


Father Gabriele Amorth passed away in 2016 at the age of 91 but wrote two memoirs detailing his experiences battling Satan and demons that had clutched people in their evil. He is now the inspiration for the film starring Russell Crowe and scheduled for release in 2023..
